La La La! Rusting & Syncing
in Blog
Wanna do some Docker
shite, like ‘pi-hole’ today; and I also wanna do ‘Syncthing’ and 'Broot'
.
The 'broot'
Github has pertinent info also. Noyce Directory Search Tool! But from the 'Broot'
Installation Page I find out that I have to first install the ‘Rust’ Development Environment, and Getting Started With ‘Rust’ could end up being more than I need to look into right now! But, Oh Well! Here we go!
So, I will be closing bash
, maybe even jumping out of the Desktop for a minute, then jumping back in and running this command:
source $HOME/.cargo/env
unless maybe it automagically set up my paths variable!
Maybe I should find out first by doing rustc --version
first.
DAYUM!!!!
jki@jki-pc:~$ rustc --version
rustc 1.41.0 (5e1a79984 2020-01-27)

Installing /home/jki/.cargo/bin/broot
Installed package `broot v0.13.0` (executable `broot`)
jki@jki-pc:~$
but… It WORKS! and Well!
As for ‘Syncthing’, I’m DEFINITELY gonna find a use for that! I mean, it has uses…
(Did That.) Now THIS: https://docs.syncthing.net/intro/getting-started.html…
I probably should have just used Docker
to do the 'Syncthang'
! https://github.com/djtm/syncthing-docker-scratch. Probably… https://github.com/joeybaker/docker-syncthing.
But yeah, I now can keep my Markdown Notes and Photos organized and synced between all devices… FINALLY! It works damn well too. Better than KDE Connect ever dreamt of doing! (btw, I use the ‘WriterPlus’ App for taking Markdown Notes on Android…)
I also want to backup my 'dotfiles'
to a 'git bare'
private repository, backup my entire Home Directory, and spruce up my terminal a bit.
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/7632454/how-do-you-use-git-bare-init-repository is a nice link…
I also recall Derek, over at Distro Tube doing a video awhile back about managing ‘dotfiles’ using a 'git bare'
repository that is worthy of review…
Git Bare Repository - A Better Way To Manage Dotfiles [16:55]
I also wanted to make a short video today…
BUT… My power went out for several hours, my daughter’s last chicken was brutally murdered by a neighbor’s dog, and many other responsibilities also cropped up.
Very few seem to be accepting personal responsibility for anything nowadays; and we all seem to be at each other’s throats over nothing – polarized with hatred, fear and blame. I don’t think anyone is impressed.
Time to grow up and take your turn to BE ‘that-which-you-thought-you-were-not’.
The Be Good Tanyas- For the Turnstiles
Started looking into the Rust programming language, and was checking out Cargo
‘Crates’, and ran into ‘Parity’ again. Been awhile, but I remember them. I’ll be checking into that ‘crate’ and learn a bit more about their technologies… If you want a clue, it’s about Open-Source Software for Building the Decentralised Web. (and yes, the ‘Ethereum’ blockchain figures prominently.) I’m also interested in ‘Polkadot’. More study must be done soon. As for the ‘Dot’ Token… hmmm…
Of course, I could always launch my own blockchain!
lol
Pretty obvious you are moving deep into a ‘research phase’… I wouldn’t be surprised if the next few blog entries exhibited more ‘neverending links’ than ever before!
May wanna blast ‘Tutanota’ today. Already prepared with screenshots of emails, etc…
but no, I may either save that for later, or just let it go.
Tutanota’s very Logo is emblematic of, ‘Took a turn for the worse and ended with a whimper…’
Did some editing of images and the last blogpost (see ‘Notes’), but would REALLY like to go to town on editing the old https:/freedomzine.hashbase.io site and the old https://just-kiss-it.hashbase.io site. I also need to slip that ‘Killcen’ Page in there somewhere, after sprucing things up a bit.
That would be me wrapping up the past…
Speaking of wrapping up the past…
Got a bunch of Emails to write…
Not to mention…
